Welcome to our site!

Diabetes is an increasingly prevalent problem in our society today.  Within the elderly population, it is estimated that at least 18% of seniors suffers from diabetes, and this figure jumps to 24% or more within senior care facilities.

60-70% of elderly diabetics suffer from peripheral neuropathy - and foot deformities and poor circulation are also a problem.  As a result, foot problems are the most common diabetic complication leading to hospitalization, and an acquired diabetic pressure ulcer or other wound on the foot can be extremely difficult to heal.  Residents with diabetic foot ulcers experience significantly more acute care visits, and lower survivability rates. 11% of patients with diabetic foot ulcers ultimately require amputation, with an estimated 86,000 amputations occurring per year.   The cost of treatment post-ulceration is estimated at $26-28,000 over a 2-3 year period.

Prevention is clearly the best strategy.  Curos provides cost effective diabetic footwear that can help prevent these complications.  It is reimbursable via Medicare Part B and in some cases by private insurance.
